Sweet Cavallucci are traditional biscuits from Tuscany. From Siena to Arezzo, they are must in our pantry, when Christmas comes around. Their story dates back to the 16th century at the time of Lorenzo the Magnificent, even though they were called “biriquocoli” back then.
The recipe is very simple and it hasn’t changed much over time: anise, nuts and candied fruits are mixed with sugar and flour. The cookie dough is compact and the softness varies from recipe to recipe. Some people like them crunchy, whereas other people like them soft: the Cavallucci by Pasticcerie Sinatti are made for everyone!
