“Lacrima di Morro d’Alba DOC” is a red wine from the Marche made from a very particular vine variety that has black grapes. The skin of grapes cracks as they ripen and tiny drops of juice, which look like tears (lacrima in Italian), drip down. It is a noble wine that is very aromatic, intense and long lasting.
The resulting jelly is soft and silky and has a rich scent with notes of wine and mixed berries. It can be paired with foie gras or game meat, but also with hearty cheeses, such as blue-veined cheeses or drunken cheeses that already have that wine aroma. It also tastes amazing as spoon sweets and can be used to refine a mixed berry mousse, a caramel parfait or just some custard ice cream.
The Si.Gi. farm was born out of the passion of the couple Silvano Buccolini and Giuliana Papa for the forgotten fruits of their land which is located next to Macerata. After having started to grow ancient fruit varieties, Silvano and Giuliana opened a lab where they make the most typical jams and fruit preserves. These jars only contain genuine fruit, simple and natural processing methods, traditional tools and cooking methods - such as boiling in an uncovered pot - and, of course, the flavour of delicacies belonging to a bygone era.
